This is my personal footage of Roky Erickson performing “I Walked With A Zombie” in Austin, Texas on October 29, 2016.

It turned out to be the last time I ever saw him live. Roky was more than just a musical hero—he was a true original. His voice, his presence, and his haunting songs left a lasting imprint on all of us who followed his career from the Elevators to his solo work.

I’ve collected Roky’s music for decades, from the original 13th Floor Elevators vinyl and bootlegs to every solo release. I even named my dog Roky in his honor.
