Description
Solo piano arrangement of Chance Meeting, a track from Roxy Music’s 1972 debut album, a vinyl copy of which is propped on the music stand. The song is in D minor and was written by Bryan Ferry who also plays the piano and sings on the track. I’ve also tried to replicate the distorted drones (presumably played by synthesiser man Brian Eno and guitarist Phil Manzanera) and the walking bassline at the end (played by bass guitarist Graham Simpson). I can’t find much that’s been written about this song, or ever seen Bryan Ferry talk about it, but I do wonder if he was listening to Philip Glass when he wrote it, as it does seem very indebted to that strain of American minimalism.
