Sarama (สะระหม่า)

Description

A piece which has had an important role in the traditional music of royal court, Sarama has been use for a great number of different ocassion including athletic events such as sword fighting and boxing.
The oboe used to play this work is called the Javanese oboe. Strangely enough,it is said that the Javanese themselves call their version of the same oboe the "Thai oboe". The oboe is accompanied by the Great Piphat orchestra which consists of wind and percussion intruments only. (By: Fong naam)

เป็นเพลงที่มีบทบาทสำคัญของดนตรีในราชสำนัก, เพลงสะระหม่านั้นมักใช้เป็นดนตรีสำหรับบรรเลงในโอกาสต่างๆกัน เช่นการต่อสู้ดาบ กระบี่กระบอง และการชกมวย . เครื่องดนตรีที่ใช้ในการเล่นเพลงนี้คือ "ปี่ชวา" น่าแปลกที่ว่า ปี่ชนิดเดียวกันนี้ ทางฝั่งชวาจะเรียกว่า "ปี่ไทย"
