Hard to accept that Jeff Beck is gone. He was such a one of a kind musician, truly unique.
When I was in high school, I used to listen to Jeff Beck's solo albums quite often. Over the last couple decades I didn't listen to him as much, but when he recorded the sessions and video live at Ronnie Scott's around 15 years ago, I was floored at how great he sounded, and his new group with Tal Wilkenfeld and Vinnie Colaiuta. I actually met Jeff in 2009 at Ronnie Scott's when I was playing there with pianist Monty Alexander. The club's manager came up to the bass player and me and said "Jeff Beck is here and he wants to meet you guys." 😳 We went over to his table and he was just the coolest cat, very complimentary and funny.

The drummer on the original version of Scatterbrain is Richard Bailey, who is still active in the UK. I never knew much about him, but recently found out that he was raised in Trinidad, and was all of about 18 on Blow By Blow!! His playing is so crisp, clean, tasty, funky and complex....killer! The beat on this is very similar to Billy Cobham's on Mahavishnu Orchestra's Vital Transformation. Bailey also played with Johnny Nash (I Can See Clearly Now) , Steve Winwood, Billy Ocean and the British funk band, Incognito. Bad dude.
