The Mighty Clouds of Joy originated in Los Angeles, California in 1955. They are the first gospel group to appear on the television dance show called "Soul Train." Hit after hit they remained on Billboard R & B, Billboard US Hot Chart, and Billboard Soul Music. They are recipients of 3 Grammy awards with a total of 8 Grammy nominations. Their cross-over accolades on the Billboard Soul Music chart for the songs "Mighty High" and "For Pray For Me" go down in history as one of the most influential quartet gospel groups known to date. The Next Edition of the group continues to make historical waves and soulful gospel music. I'm sure the founding member Joe Ligon would be proud.
