Description
The “Sex and the City” theme music was written by Douglas J. Cuomo and Tom Findlay for the romantic comedy-drama television series of the same name. Created by Darren Star for HBO, the series aired for six seasons, from 1998 to 2004, and starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. Subsequently, two “Sex and the City” films were released, in 2008 and 2010.
Creator Star had requested that composer Doug Cuomo write something sexy and sophisticated, with a Latin, cocktail-themed vibe. Cuomo’s theme was exactly what Star wanted. The famed main-title theme song was recorded near the Empire State Building with a bass player, drummer, saxophone player, percussionist, and pianist. The theme quickly became a popular ringtone for mobile phones. With a Latin, pizzazz-like style, pianist Charles Manning performs the “Sex and the City” theme song.
