Shabaam Sahdeeq, a gifted emcee from Brooklyn, New York, rose to prominence in the 90s as a key figure in the underground hip hop scene. Renowned for his sharp lyricism and versatile flow, he became a cornerstone of the iconic Rawkus Records roster during its golden era, leaving an indelible mark on hip hop culture.

In 1998, Sahdeeq delivered one of his most memorable tracks, “5 Star Generals.” This powerhouse collaboration features a stellar lineup of lyrical heavyweights, including Eminem, A.L. (All Lyrics), Kwest Tha Madd Lad, and SKAM. The track was produced by the legendary DJ Spinna.

“5 Star Generals” appeared on the “Sound Clash / 5 Star Generals” release and features a brilliant sample of Phil Upchurch’s soulful “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” from his 1972 album “Darkness, Darkness.”
