Sillencio,' sung by Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Potuondo tells of a gardner who begs for silence so as not to wake he flowers in the garden since if the flowers knew the gardener's suffering they would not live. "Porque, si me ven llorando moriran." Because, if they should see me crying they would die. My paintings and photographs of my garden are the framework in which I have offered up some of the 'flowers' that are the portraits of friends I have been painting over the past year or more.
