Smile was composed by Charlie Chaplin as an instrumental for his 1936 movie Modern Times. In 1954 John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title. It was performed by Nat King Cole in 1954 and it reached number 10 on the Billboard and number 2 on the UK singles Chart.
