One of the things I’m most thankful for about getting to make my Deeper Roots album was getting to record “I’d Rather Have Jesus” with my dad and my brother, with my dad singing the lead vocal. This song carries so much meaning and emotion for us, and especially for my dad...we sang it together at the funeral for my Grandmother (my dad’s mom). It took us about 8 “takes” in the studio because my dad kept having to stop and let the tears come. Finally we were able to get all the way through it, and what is captured is a priceless treasure to me &, I believe, to all who will hear it. Here’s a video of that very special recording. I hope you enjoy it!
