Coming across the filmography of the chinese director Jia Zhang-Ke i couldn't help but notice many similarities.
Through the pursuit of love/freedom/roots etc. by the main character (usually played by actress Zhao Tao), his movies really want to depict a portrait of a vast nation, China, changing through time; preparing itself for a capitalist superpower status in 21th century, but retaining the autocratic political habits of communism: high-handedly ordering the displacement of a million-and-a-half people, and the abolition of thousands of years of history.
This is often symbolized by the "Three Gorges Dam": a gigantic engineering project, dreamed of by Chinese leaders almost throughout the 20th century, wich has meant flooding huge areas near the Yangtze River.
This alone has caused it to be condemned as an eco-calamity in the making, and it has meant the entire evacuation of the city of Fengjie, which is where most of his stories take place.

Following the life of Zhao Tao characters, this video wants to be a reinterpretation of the "trip" through both time & space in China.
