Cevin Key was running a remix contest on his Patreon — a raw jam built from a TR-909, Toraiz AS-1, and Mirage samples pulled from old Skinny Puppy sessions.
Skinny Puppy was one of the most important bands to me growing up, and getting access to those sounds felt like opening a time capsule — direct contact with a world that shaped how I hear music.
No matter how far you get in your career, taking time to sit down, explore, and sharpen your skills is essential. Whether or not something “comes of it,” this kind of exercise is what keeps the edge sharp.
