Description
The Hastings College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Fritz Mountford, performs a celebration of spring from the thirteenth century. Choir members accompany on recorders and percussion. Sung in Middle English.
In modern English: "Summertime is come: sing loud, cuckoo! The seed grows and the meadows bloom, and the woods turn green. Sing, cuckoo! Ewe bleats after lamb, cow lows after calf, the bullock leaps, the buck farts, merrily sing, cuckoo! You sing well, cuckoo; never stop now."
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college is located in Hastings, Nebraska.
