"Sweet Is The Night" was released on Electric Light Orchestra's seventh studio album, Out Of The Blue, in the winter of 1977. This double album caught Electric Light Orchestra at the very height of their popularity and at the peak of their artistic ability. It's an absolutely unrelentingly gorgeous and epic work, nearly bursting with fantastic melodies, groovy licks (both violin and guitar!), and especially beautiful strings.....all wrapped in a crystal production of seldom equaled brilliance. Jeff Lynne is a fine writer, a fantastic singer...but it's his production skills that always made ELO so special. It was this production prowess that ultimately brought him the most renown and in the years since ELO ended, with the exception of his stint in Travelling Wilburys, he has mostly focused on producing music. Of course....there IS that rumored new album!?!?!

This is the 3rd video I've made for an ELO song, behind "Letter From Spain" (the very first video I ever made and uploaded to Youtube!) and another favorite track from Out Of The Blue, "Jungle". Since this song is such a huge favorite of mine, it wasn't hard to get inspired to try and give it something cool. It was another of those where I ended up with way too many things for the relatively short tune, so just chopped and focused on a few sequences.

Seriously wanting to do the Concerto for a Rainy Day Suite, but this little gem will have to tide me over 'til I'm up to that task! ;-)
