Takashi Kokubo is a New Age and ambient composer and sound designer. Outside of his albums, Kokubo has been instrumental in creating the sound identity of Japan, from the nationally-used mobile phone earthquake alert sound to credit card payment jingles.
Takashi Kokubo released ten albums from 1992-93 in what is called the "Ion Series". The ten albums released were in two five-album sub-series, one in 1992 and one in 1993. The first sub-series, released in 1992, is titled 「都市生活者へ送る音風景」 or "Sound Scenery for City People". This album is part one of the first sub-series, making it the first album in the Ion Series.
