Teresa Teng (January 29, 1953 -- May 8, 1995) was a Taiwanese Chinese pop singer. She is regarded as one of Asia's greatest singers, famous for her romantic ballads. She died an untimely death at the age of 42 while on holiday in Chiangmai, Thailand, supposedly from an asthma attack.
襟裳岬 (Cape Erimo or Misaki Erimo) is a Japanese love song sung by Teresa Teng in Mandarin. Cape Erimo refers to a place in Hokkaido Island, Japan, known for its harsh beauty and conditions, and tells of memories of a old friendship evoked by the beauty of the Cape.
In the northern town, they seem to have begun
Burning their sorrow in the stove.
While we’re worrying about those things without solutions,
We will get old and grow weak.
Let us come together to bring warmth and relive those past months when we kept silent.
Erimo’s spring offers us everything else we would want.
That’s your second cup of coffee. You usually put in your cup
A piece of sugar cube, don’t you?
Stirring the sugar cube in the cup, we recall over and over the times we had in the past.
We will fondly remember the summer when we got together and enjoyed ourselves.
Erimo’s spring offers us everything else we would want.
