Daddy Tusty Predicts a Dilemma This Culturama

We’ve all been there…caught between resting at home and attending a fete. That is the dilemma Daddy Tusty is predicting this summer as the island of Nevis gets set to host its 44th Culturama festival.

Shavon “Daddy Tusty” Lawrence, who ruffled several feathers in 2017 when he secured the Culturama Road March title with “How We Do It”, has been back in the studio with The KORE.

His most recent project has been recording “The Calling”; another groovy track by the KORE Team.

In the song, Daddy Tusty reveals how the “sound of fete” continues to call him, sometimes causing him to miss other appointments. Intrigued by that revelation, we sat with the budding artiste to learn about the inspiration for “The Calling.”
“I had the idea for some time,” the soft spoken Daddy Tusty recalls, noting that after listening to a few of his past songs, he was “called” to start penning the lyrics.
“One day, I went by Cory to do a song and he asked if I had any idea for what I want to do for a groovy song. Of course I shared my idea with him and that same day, we started doing work on it,” Daddy Tusty explained.

The Cory he refers to is well-known Producer Cory Tyson, who is known in the music industry as Masablue.

According to Daddy Tusty…interesting alias by the way…”putting the track together was a collaborative effort” with input from Masablue, Delroy “Delly Ranks” Huggins and Thyron “Speedy” Jeffers. Black Circle Studio handled the recording while Nayala Daniel and Daddy Tusty provided the background vocals - all Nevisians; yay Nevis!

Releasing the track well in advance of the highly anticipated festival, gives fans time to familiarize themselves with the lyrics. Daddy Tusty is confident that just as the sound of fete keeps calling him, the lyrics to this track will keep calling you.
