Description
"Cry Like I Cried" written by Archie Johnson & Gordon Powell was recorded on October 7, 1957 by the Harptones, one of the best of the early R&B/doo-wop groups to come out of New York City. Released later that month on the Gee label, the song failed to chart, but it remains one of the great 1950s doo-wop recordings. The lead singer was Willie Winfield. Other group members include Billy Brown, William Dempsey (second tenor), William "Dicey" Galloway, Toni Williams, and Raoul Cita (piano; baritone). The song can be found on the CD, The Golden Classics (Remastered) on the CroonCo label issued in 2011 and on the CD, Sunday Kind Of Love on Classic Records.
