Description
The Jeremiahs - The Night of the Big Wind (Irish: Oíche na Gaoithe Móire)
In the year of 1839, on the sixth day of January, a large, violent storm was conceived far out in the wild Atlantic Ocean and unbeknownst to the sleeping, innocent people along the west coast of Ireland and beyond, the storm was heading towards them on its destructive journey across the country towards mainland Britain. When the storm reached the land it wasted no time in destroying everything in its path, uprooting trees and tearing roofs from modest dwellings and stately homes alike. It is claimed that over 300 people perished on the Island of Ireland as the storm ripped through.
In true Irish fashion it is said that the devastating storm was caused by the fairy folk and their shenanigans so this is our twist on how and why the events of that fateful night played out.
