Description
WHAT HAVE WE GOT? MAAAAAAAG-NIFICENCE!
It's very rare that musicians can approach a truly iconic song and cover it properly. It's like Icarus, flying too close to the sun only to get his wings destroyed. Just. Don't. Do. It. Leave it be and just bask in its wonder. To succeed at doing so means you have taken that magic and your understanding of it and then some.
I've been in awe at the way in which The Lions and Black Shakespeare have managed to take The Clash's Magnificent Seven/Dance and give it even more of that crossover weird/eclectic/roots/dance/gritty bad-old-days-NYC-of-my-youth in such an honest and genuine manner. It stinks of "Cocaine In My Brian" and "Love Money" and everything in between. Personally, I plan on playing it right between those and Risco Connection's "Ain't No Stoppin' Us" and so on and so forth...
Larry and David would have made this a Loft/Garage classic, had they had it back in the days, no question.
And Joe would be proud.
And both of those statements come very easily from someone from whom they would hardly come lightly from.
