Prince Po aka Prince poetry used to be one half the 90's rap duo Organised Konfusion with Pharoahe Monch. They split in 1997. So, 7 years later, Po releases his debut solo album.

The slickness is pretty slick, production wise. It has some somewhat left field beats from some big name underground producers like Danger Mouse, Madlib and Jel. They give Po some electro sounding, stripped back beats to work with. They sound really good and are consistently dope throughout the album. Some bang harder while others incorporate more strings and handclaps.

Po's delivery is decent. His rap style is elegant, but I feel he lacked presence. His rhymes were tight, his delivery was smooth, but he didn't spit anything overly memorable in my opinion. He doesn't waste time showboating, does very little posturing and he rides the beats very well. He does try to get insightful and talk about poverty, society, the industry and thing like that. Other times, he just raps about meeting girls at the bar. Content is somewhat inconsistent.

The guest MC's do a great job for the most part. DOOM kills on his track " Social Distortion". "Bump Bump" is kind of dumb, despite Raekwon's presence. Jemini, even though not my favorite MC by any means, does a decent job on "Fall Back".

Not a mind blowing album by any means. Lots of tight beats, some ok verses, more good songs than bad. Sometimes suffers from weak subject matter. Overall, a good album if you're a fan of non pretentious underground shit.
