What's a solar eclipse, you say?
It's a cool trick that nature plays
It's when the Moon happens to find its way
Between the Earth and the Sun (All up in the middle)
Eclipses have been going on a really long time
Before science came along it used blow people's minds
They would freak out and think that the world was gonna end
I can imagine I would too if the Sun went dim
And no one could tell me what in the world was going on!!!
(That would be so crazy)
So a solar eclipse you see
Is a natural phenomenon and nothing scary
The moon has to be at perigee
For it to happen at all (If it's gonna happen that's the only way)
If you're not familiar with that word (Perigee)
It's the closest that the Moon gets to the Earth
The opposite is apogee, which is the word
For when it's farthest away (hey, hey)
A total eclipse is when the moon's silhouette
Seems bigger than the Sun but lest we forget
The Sun is still a lot bigger it's just farther away
And an eclipse is cool, so it's really okay
It doesn't matter which one is bigger anyway
They're all special in their own way (That's the truth, yeah)
