There are two very compelling, but very different, versions of this song in Dylan's official catalog: the 1969 Nashville Skyline cut, which is loose, laid-back, and whimsical, and the 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue live performance, which is densely-arranged, high-energy, and almost pleading. I find a lot of "emotional value" in both iterations, so I smushed some of the musical and lyrical ideas together to create this.
