Covering anything written by Miles Davis provides a challenge, but that obstacle was exacerbated for Bill Cunliffe thanks to the
fact that the trio’s interpretation of “7 Steps” required him to provide Davis melody in addition to carrying the piano lines.
Colaiuta picks up much of the slack as well, putting a new spin on Davis’ sixties classic without compromising the integrity of the
original.
