In this guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play the beautiful classic acoustic ballad "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers.
I will be using a fingerstyle technique to teach this much loved song, but feel free to use a pick if you are more comfortable with that style of playing.
For the first half of the song I will employ a fingerstyle technique, but as the song builds and the big chorus comes in, I will begin to the strum the chords. I still don't use a pick for this though, you can see what I do in the video lesson.
The chord forms used through the first half of the song during the fingerpicking sections mostly consist of simple bar chords played on just the top four strings. 85% percent of these fingerpicked sections use the exact same pattern played again and again. There will be just slight variations at the very beginning of the song and at one other time.
Throughout the video lesson, I will let you know the exact minutes and seconds marks of the song that I am currently teaching so you can easily follow along with the original recording. Because of this, it would be a good idea to have that original recording at hand when following along with the video lesson.
You will be learning many beautiful guitar parts in this lesson. "Unchained Melody" is most definitely an all-time classic that every guitar player should know.
Hope you have fun with this one!
Carl...
