The Righteous Brothers was the musical duo formed by Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield . They recorded from 1963 until 1975 , and continued playing live until Hatfield's death in 2003 . The death of singer Bobby Hatfield, from the duo Righteous Brothers, was caused by acute cocaine intoxication. The autopsy indicated that Hatfield had advanced coronary disease, and the cause of death was a heart attack. The results of the toxicological test were made public by doctor Richard Tooker, from Kalamazoo County , Michigan (USA).
Hatfield, 63, died Nov. 5, 2003, hours after a Righteous Brothers performance. The group became famous for songs such as " Unchained Melody " and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling".
"This is a shock to me," said Bill Medley, Hatfield's musical partner in the duo. "I never saw him [use cocaine]. I knew absolutely nothing about it. If I had known, I would have said something to him," he stated.
The duo's biggest hit was the song "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" (100th biggest song in music history) which reached number one on the charts in the United States and England in 1964 . Other hits were "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration" (#1 in the US) and the re-recording of Unchained Melody .
