Those tuning in to all the Glastonbury action outside of Worthy Farm were quick to declare the 'best thing to happen' at the festival this year - and it all happened at lunchtime.

Saturday (June 28) marked the second day of full music action, after headliners The 1975 took to the Pyramid Stage on Friday evening (June 27).

Among the early acts to take to the stage on Saturday was Brandi Carlile as she opened the Pyramid Stage for the say. It marks the American country singer's first time playing the festival, which she has previously said is a 'dream come true'.

When she announced that she would be playing at Worthy Farm on Facebook, she said: "Well I am thrilled to say that I still have a few firsts up my sleeve. My dream of finally playing Glastonbury is coming true!

"Me and my wonderful band will be heading to Worthy Farm for the LEGENDARY Glastonbury Festivals in June. Standing on that iconic Pyramid Stage is going to be outrageous - I cannot wait!"

Brandi, who recently released a collaborative album with Sir Elton John titled Who Believes in Angels?, appeared delighted to be on the stage and between songs, shared stories about family life with her “tight foursome” back home in Seattle.
