Description
In 1856, Brown led a group in retaliation against pro-slavery settlers at Pottawatomie Creek, in which five men were killed, an event which further escalated tensions and violence in the region. Although this act earned Brown a reputation for his ruthless dedication to the abolitionist cause, and showcased the increasing polarization and violence that would eventually erupt into the American Civil War, the number of people killed by John Brown was minuscule compared to those perpetrated by pro-slavery forces. #shorts #short
