The first song combines the rhythm and beat of the West Indian Calypso with soulful lyrics depicting the beauty of the Caribbean.

This song was immortalized by the legendary Harry Belafonte in his album "Calypso" released in 1957.

Other well-known singers of "Jamaica Farewell" include Sir Lancelot, Jimmy Buffett, Sam Cooke, Nina & Frederik, Pat Rolle, Carly Simon, Nuttea, Caetano Veloso and Sting.
